Purpose of Player Tryouts:
The objective of player tryouts is to allow the EISA Coaching Staff the opportunity to observe all interested players (in and outside of the Club) and appropriately place them on a team.  Teams are selected based on a number of different factors.  The main factors for consideration are the player's age, ability and commitment level.

Tryout Format:
In order to be considered for a EISA team for the 2009/2010 season, each player must be evaluated by the EISA coaching staff.  We do expect current players to register and participate, as the tryouts will be a part of their training schedule.

All potential players should obtain and fill out registration paperwork in advance of the tryouts. Please have the paperwork filled out and bring it to the tryouts.  If you haven’t filled out the paperwork prior to participating it can be time consuming, so plan to arrive early.

All potential future players must attend tryout dates in order for the EISA coaches to evaluate their skill levels.

Note:  We encourage players to attend 2 out of the 3 tryout dates, but with advance notice, accommodations can be made for conflicts.  If a player is unable to attend a specified tryout date, arrangements must be made with EISA in order for that player to be appropriately assessed.  This communication must take place prior to July 1st of 2009.

What takes place at the Team Placement tryouts?

Upon arrival, players will be checked in and presented with a number that specifically identifies each player.

Players are then placed into game-related drills and activities to allow the EISA coaches to assess them (using the Player Evaluation Form) on the main components of the game.

The areas evaluated include:

Physical: speed, agility, strength and stamina

Technical: passing, dribbling and shooting

Tactical: decision making, vision and awareness

Psychological: attitude, coach-ability, confidence

Players will be placed in game-related 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 6v6, and 8v8 situations (depending on the relevant age groups) allowing lots of touches on the ball for players and lots of opportunities to be observed in game-related activities.  Goalkeepers will be included.

Team Placement Notification:
After player tryouts, EISA will discuss each individual player's skill, ability, desires and commitment levels.  Once initial teams have been selected and players have been placed, the coaching staff will contact players to offer them a roster spot on a team.  Please note that teams can only be formed if we can roster with a minimum of 2 subs and there is a coach available.

How will you be contacted?
Players will be contacted by a personal phone call and/or e-mail to be informed of their roster placement.  The individual players will then have 48 hours to respond to confirm they accept/decline their team placement.  If a player/family knows they will be out of town at the time of placement offers, they must provide an alternate phone number/email address where they can be reached.

*Disclaimer: Please note that due to the dynamic nature of team formation and the many factors involved, team availability may change after try-outs.
